Everybody think that it needs time an practice... unless you use macros.

What do instruments do in LOTRO?
One of the extra layers of polish brought to Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar is a music system.
The music system allows players to purchase an instrument from a vendor and play the instrument using the keyboard.
Note that music is NOT pre-recorded - it's quite breathtaking when you see a player doing online performance, it makes you want learn lotro lute playing, too :)
Don't think that lotro slows down - Turbine says that the latest version of the music system compensates for lag allowing for bands to perform and sync properly.
This lotro instrument video here shows a player in the open beta performing "Dust in the Wind"
As for music macros for lotro - yes, you can play instruments in LotRO using LOTRO Music Converter.

Making music in Lord of the Rings online is easy - all you need is only your keyboard, keys from 1 to 8 are sufficient to make lotro music.
Use the SHIFT or CTRL key to go a lower or higher octave.
For your perusal we posted thorough tutorial on how to play lotro songs yourself, so yes, lotro music numbers are real easy.
By level 5, every character can play a lute. In the open beta you can get a lute for 20 silver.

Video of how to play an instrument in lotro by hand - not using macros!
Author needs more practice, but overall he did it quite well. hey, it's one note per key stroke!
This being hand played is true. He's only doing chords with his left hand, and playing [improvised?] notes on the high C. I've done it a lot ;), too. It makes some nice music. If you think its macro by the multi key sounds its because he most probably used a custom layout instead of 1-8.

Author plays Lute on his Elf Minstrel during Beta.
He used some macros, done with Anvil Studio, GlovePie, and LOTRO Music Converter.

Here is quick how to play lute in LotRO
(or general hints on how to play instruments in lotro):
Best way to play instrument in LotRO is rebind Keys. Default notes stays on 12345678. Now when holding Ctrl with 12345678 instead rebind to QWERTYUI .. and For SHIFT 12345678 rebind to ASDFGHJK . Now you can play with 2 hands and have all the octaves without fukin Holding Down Shift and Ctrl. Hope it helps.

- Are the system specs required to run fairly high? Nope, you just buy the instrument (save up 20s for a lute haha), learn the skill, and you can play. lotro music numbers are easy - use 1-8 shift 1-8 and ctrl 1-8.
